Jump Starting Your Quiet Time...

Luke 11:1 tells us that Jesus had a "certain place" that He went for prayer and fellowship with His Father. Do you have a “certain place” established for your quiet time?

My 'certain place' used to be the main room of my home. However, whenever anyone got up - my quiet time was cut drastically short. One day in utter frustration, I asked the Lord where He would have our special place of fellowship be. I sensed Him leading me to this little room off the kitchen called the mud room.

In the mud room, I have my computer, the washer and dryer, a bathroom, and a large utility sink. (It started out as a pretty drab place.) He brought my eye to a vacant corner large enough to house a chair. A cozy lamp now sits on the small refrigerator that serves as a table. I bought a small 3x5 rug that makes the spot even warmer. A basket with all my Bible study supplies sits neatly on the floor in the same area. If I have to get up to get a book or a devotional, or a pen, or my journal or a note card, or a composition book - chances are, I’ll get distracted and perhaps never return. Having a stocked basket with everything in arm’s reach, helps keep me physically planted and less distracted.

I challenge you to cultivate your own 'certain place'. Make sure your spiritual tool box is stocked. And enjoy One-on-one fellowship as you listen to Him speak to you in ways you’ll rarely experience anywhere else.
